Detroit Area Free Tutoring Opportunities
Many Detroit Area students are eligible for Supplemental Educational Services (SES) in the form of free tutoring under the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law, but less than 15% of them are getting it, according to the U.S. Department of Education.
Any pre-college student might be able to receive 40 hours of free tutoring in
- Reading
- Mathematics
- Science
- Language Arts
Our local Detroit Area group (the City of Detroit included) gives free tutoring to students who qualify.
What does it take to qualify?
To qualify, the student must
- Attend a Title I School (Click here for a list of Qualifying Schools)
- Title I School: school where 35% or more students come from low-income families
- School is categorized as “in need of improvement” for two (2) years in a row
- The school did NOT meet AYP
- Receive a Free or Reduced Price Lunch
Do NOT get left behind! If you think you might qualify and want free tutoring, call (248) 327-7078 for more information or to find what you need to do next. Ask for Christina.
